Description: The king cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus jubatus) is a fascinating big cat that is one of the rarest in the world due to its unique fur variations. This impressive photo captures a king cheetah in a close-up view. Cheetahs are nearly extinct in Asia and highly endangered in Africa. With their long legs, they are the fastest land mammals. The king cheetah differs from the regular spotted cheetah with larger black spots that can merge into distinct stripes. This image was taken at the Hoedspruit Research & Breeding Centre in the Kapama Private Game Reserve, where both bred and rescued cheetahs are cared for and later released back into the wild.
