Description: The African Elephant (Loxodonta africana) is the largest land mammal on Earth. These majestic animals primarily feed on leaves, branches, roots, and fruits. In this image, we see a young elephant desperately searching for food in the dried up savannah. Her survival depends on finding the last remaining green plants. The loss of habitat due to the expansion of agricultural land is increasingly threatening the population of African Elephants.
