Cape Buffalo in front of the waterhole

Description: The Cape Buffalo (Syncerus caffer) is an impressive species that lives in small family groups or large herds. As a grazer, it also shows interest in foliage and herbs. The only natural predators of the Cape Buffalo are lions, but hyenas and crocodiles can also pose a threat. Although usually peaceful, wounded or cornered Cape Buffaloes can become extremely dangerous. This photo captures a majestic Cape Buffalo seeking peace and security at a waterhole.
