Fascinating Cape Cobra spotted in the sunny Overberg Fynbos

Description: The Cape Cobra, also known as Naja nivea, is a fascinating and venomous snake that we encountered in the inaccessible Gansbaai Mountains of the Western Cape in South Africa. Among the vast and stunning Overberg Fynbos area, we observed both the Yellow variety and the Speckled variety of this snake species. The Cape Cobra stands out for its impressive size of up to 1.60 meters and its distinct yellow, reddish, or black colorations. Its habitat mainly includes dry, rocky areas and sandy riverbeds. This snake possesses one of the strongest snake venoms, which is neurotoxic and can lead to death within minutes. A captivating yet dangerous creature.
