Description: The Cape Cobra, also known as Naja nivea, is a fascinating and venomous snake that we encountered on a remote mountainside. The sunlit colorful rocks provided a picturesque backdrop for this impressive creature. The Cape Cobra can grow up to 1.60 meters in length and displays striking yellow, reddish, brown, or black colorations, sometimes speckled. It inhabits dry, rocky areas and is renowned for its potent neurotoxin, which is among the most effective snake venoms. A bite can be fatal within minutes.
