Blacktip shark observes diver in the Bahamas

Description: The Blacktip shark, also known as Carcharhinus limbatus, inhabits tropical and subtropical seas. With an impressive size of up to 2.6 meters and a typical depth distribution of up to 30 meters, it is one of the fascinating creatures of the oceans. Encounters with Blacktip sharks are particularly common during the 'Shark Rodeos' near Walker's Cay, Abaco Islands, at the northern edge of the Bahamas. There, they often mingle with other shark species such as the Caribbean Reef Sharks. Due to overfishing, Blacktip sharks are now classified as threatened species worldwide. Their diet mainly consists of sardines, herrings, mackerels, flat fish, and other fish.
