Description: The blacktip shark (Carcharhinus limbatus) is a fascinating marine creature that thrives in tropical and subtropical waters near the coast. With an impressive size of up to 2.6 meters, it gracefully navigates depths of up to 30 meters. This image captures a blacktip shark swimming majestically over a sandy sea bottom. It was taken during an exhilarating dive near Walker's Cay, Abaco Islands, at the northern edge of the Bahamas. Alongside the well-known Caribbean Reef Sharks, blacktip sharks are often spotted during this amazing underwater adventure. Unfortunately, blacktip sharks are globally endangered due to overfishing. They feed on a variety of fish such as sardines, herrings, mackerels, and flat fish.
