Description: The blacktip reef shark (Carcharhinus melanopterus) is a fascinating creature often found patrolling the coral reef. With a maximum length of 160 cm and a gray-brown coloration, it is easily identifiable. All fins of the blacktip reef shark feature distinctive black tips, while the tail fin has a prominent black margin. This species of shark prefers shallow waters and is commonly found in the tidal zone. Encounters with the blacktip reef shark are almost guaranteed, especially at Shark Reef.
