Encounters with Blacktip reef sharks at Fiji's Shark Reef (00017604)
Description: The Blacktip reef shark (Carcharhinus melanopterus) is a captivating marine creature that inhabits the warm turquoise waters of the Beqa Lagoon off the coast of Viti Levu, Fiji. Measuring up to 160 cm in length, this shark displays a gray-brown base color with distinct black tips on all fins, including a black trim on its tail fin. Often found in the intertidal zone, this shark species frequents shallow waters. Visitors to Shark Reef, a renowned diving location, are almost always treated to sightings of the Blacktip reef shark.
