Red Mangrove (Rhizophora mangle L.)

Description: Red mangroves (Rhizophora mangle L.) dominate the scenery of the Qara-ni-Qio River in Fiji. These trees and shrubs, reaching heights of up to 30 meters, are perfectly adapted to the salty coasts and brackish river mouths. They serve as vital nurseries for numerous marine species and are essential for the ecosystem. Mangroves are endangered and their global population has drastically decreased.
