Description: The Common Warthog (Phacochoerus africanus) is a striking animal that inhabits the open, dry landscapes of Africa south of the Sahara. The prominent facial warts, especially in males, make it a captivating subject. Warthogs live in groups and mainly feed on grass. Their main predators include lions, wild dogs, hyenas, and eagles. The Desert Warthog Phacochoerus aethiopicus aethiopicus also used to live in the Cape Province but was eradicated in the early 20th century.
