Common Warthog displays curiosity in the African wilderness (00016183)
Description: The Common Warthog (Phacochoerus africanus) inhabits the open, dry landscapes of Africa south of the Sahara. With distinctive facial warts, it curiously explores its surroundings. These herbivores live in groups and primarily feed on grass. Their predators include lions, wild dogs, hyenas, and eagles. In the Cape Province, there was once the Desert Warthog Phacochoerus aethiopicus aethiopicus, which was eradicated in the early 20th century.
