Description: The White Tern (Gygis alba rothchildi) is a graceful and delicate snow-white bird with large black-rimmed eyes. In flight, White Terns appear like characters from a fairy tale against the deep blue sky. They dive into the water to catch fish without landing. During the day, they feed their young with up to six small fish. Thousands of White Tern pairs breed on the Midway Islands.
