Description: The white terns, also known as White Fairy Terns, are delicate birds with snow-white plumage and large black eyes. Their graceful flight against the deep blue sky of the tropical paradise gives them a ghostly beautiful appearance. These seemingly fragile birds hunt for fish by gliding low over the waves and then elegantly diving into the water. Back on the island, they feed their young with up to six small fish in their bill. Approximately 7500 pairs of these fascinating birds breed on the Midway Islands.
