Description: The Sooty Tern is a fascinating bird species found in the Hawaiian Islands such as Eastern Island and Spit Island. With around 50,000 breeding pairs, it is one of the impressive residents of the region. Sooty Terns nest in large colonies, laying their eggs in the sand or on abandoned runways from World War II.
