Baby Great White Shark shows great interest in small fish pieces near a shark cage (00015415)
Description: The Great White Shark, scientifically known as Carcharodon carcharias, is one of the most fascinating creatures of the sea. This image captures a few days old baby Great White Shark, located just six sea miles off the coast of Gansbaai. Near Dyer Island and Gyser Rock, the curious young fish is swimming close to the water surface. Great White Sharks are fully developed from birth and have to fend for themselves. They feed on small fish and squids. Pups are very cautious and shy away from adult sharks. Only a few manage to reach adulthood.
