Description: The cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus) is an endangered species, almost extinct in Asia and facing serious threats in Africa. With its long legs, it is the fastest land mammal. Cheetahs from different regions have genetic differences. The only remaining population of Asian cheetahs is in Iran and is critically endangered. The Hoedspruit Research & Breeding Centre in the Kapama Private Game Reserve cares for captive-bred and rescued cheetahs before releasing them back into the wild.
