Focused baby cheetah crossing a tree stump in the wild (00015930)
Description: The baby cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus) crosses a tree stump with focused determination. This seven-week-old cheetah cub comes from a private breeding station near the Addo Elephant Park, where it is being cared for before being released into the wild. Cheetahs are the fastest land animals, capable of reaching speeds of up to 120 km/h. Unfortunately, the population of wild cheetahs has drastically declined due to habitat loss, poaching for zoos, and the illegal trade of their skins. Additionally, farmers and ranchers pose a threat to cheetahs as they view them as a danger to their herds, leading to frequent killings.
