Description: The African Elephant (Loxodonta africana) is the largest land mammal on Earth and a fascinating creature. This image captures a mature elephant enjoying leaves and branches. These majestic animals can consume up to 200 kg of plants per day, including leaves, branches, roots, and fruits. There are two subspecies of the African Elephant, the Savanna Elephant (Loxodonta africana africana) and the Forest Elephant (Loxodonta africana cyclotis), both of which are threatened by habitat loss and poaching.
