Description: The African Elephant (Loxodonta africana) is a majestic animal that consumes about 200 kg of plant material daily, including leaves, branches, roots, and fruits. As the largest land mammal on Earth, elephants are truly remarkable creatures. There are two subspecies of the African Elephant: the African Savanna Elephant Loxodonta africana africana and the African Forest Elephant Loxodonta africana cyclotis. The Savanna Elephant inhabits dry forests and savannas across Africa. Standing nearly three meters tall and weighing up to 7.5 tons, they are colossal beings. Despite the international ban on ivory trade, the elephant population is threatened by habitat loss, primarily due to the expansion of agricultural lands.
