Impressive African Elephant quenching its thirst at a watering hole

Description: The African Elephant (Loxodonta africana) is one of the largest land mammals on Earth. An adult elephant consumes approximately 200 kg of vegetation daily, including leaves, branches, roots, and fruits. There are two subspecies, the Savanna Elephant (Loxodonta africana africana) and the Forest Elephant (Loxodonta africana cyclotis). The Savanna Elephant inhabits the dry forests and savannas of Africa, with a shoulder height of nearly three meters and a weight of up to 7.5 tons. Despite the international ban on ivory trade since 1989, African Elephant populations are at risk due to habitat loss from agricultural expansion.
