Description: The African Elephant (Loxodonta africana africana) is the largest land mammal on Earth and a fascinating creature to observe. Weighing up to 7.5 tons and standing nearly three meters tall at the shoulder, they are truly majestic. This image captures an adult elephant just after leaving the waterhole in Addo Elephant National Park. Elephants primarily feed on plant matter such as leaves, twigs, roots, and fruits.
