Description: The African Elephant (Loxodonta africana africana) is the largest land mammal on Earth, consuming about 200 kg of plant material per day. This majestic creature can weigh up to 7.5 tons and reach a shoulder height of nearly three meters. The savanna elephant inhabits the dry forests and savannas of Africa. In this image, an African Elephant is depicted quenching its thirst at a waterhole in the Addo Elephant National Park.
