Description: The blacktip reef shark, also known as Carcharhinus melanopterus, is a common inhabitant of the tropical coral reefs of the Indian and Pacific Oceans. This species is easily identified by the prominent black tips on its fins. It prefers shallow waters and is often found in the intertidal zone. Juveniles tend to inhabit shallow sandy areas, while adults are more commonly found near reef ledges and drop-offs. With a maximum length of 1.6 m, the blacktip reef shark primarily feeds on small fish and squid. A fascinating creature that showcases the beauty and diversity of the oceans.
