An impressive portrait of a warthog in Addo Elephant National Park (00016171)
Description: The impressive warthog (Phacochoerus africanus) is native to the vast, arid landscapes of Africa south of the Sahara. Known for its distinctive facial warts, it typically lives in small groups and primarily feeds on grasses. Main predators such as lions, wild dogs, hyenas, and eagles make warthogs vigilant animals. The Cape buffalo, another impressive creature, lives in family units and large herds. As herbivores, they are interested in grass, foliage, and herbs, while having to defend themselves against predators like lions, hyenas, and crocodiles.
